We are currently seeking to recruit a Junior Accountant to join our growing team within the retail and manufacturing sectors.
The chosen candidates will be:
• Assisting in the preparation of daily accounting entries, including sales, purchases, expenses, and bank transactions.
• Performing bank, supplier, customer, and balance-sheet account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of differences.
• Supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounting records in the company’s financial systems.
• Assisting in the preparation of management reports, schedules, and supporting
• documentation.
• Processing supplier invoices, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and timely posting.
• Assisting in creditor and debtor follow-ups, including statement reviews and queries.
• Preparing and maintaining petty cash records and reimbursements where applicable.
• Handling payroll postings, including journal entries for salaries, wages, NI contributions, tax deductions, and related accruals.
• Supporting the preparation and submission of statutory filings (e.g., VAT, tax-related documentation) under supervision.
• Assisting during internal and external audits, preparing documentation as required.
• Maintaining proper document filing, digital archiving, and record retention.
• Supporting the team in budget monitoring and cost tracking.
• Ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
• Performing additional accounting or administrative tasks as may be assigned by senior team members or management.
Ability to communicate effectively in both Maltese and English
Adhering to deadlines and a positive attitude
Self-motivated and be able to work under pressure
Accounts O Level or AAT or Diploma in Accounting
At least one year of experience in a similar position
