Job Description

Overview

We are looking for a Steward (Housekeeper) to maintain cleanliness in and around our restaurant, including both internal and external areas.


Responsibilities include:

• Adheres to the Cleaning yearly schedule as directed by the Head Chef; 

• Cleans, stocks and supplies designated areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, cleaning walls and ceilings, floor drains etc); 

• Washes and dries windows; 

• Operates commercial pressure washing equipment; 

• Polishes metalwork and cleans lint, dust, oil and grease from machines, overhead pipes and conveyors in an industrial setting; 

• Carries out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects; 

• Stores chemicals in a properly ventilated storeroom, away from food, in their original containers or in containers supplied by the chemical supplier. The chemicals must not be exposed to excessive ambient temperatures and a first-in-first-out procedure must be adopted when using the chemicals; 

• Uses chemicals in a proper manner as per directions found on container;  

• Liaises with Head Chef to ensure sufficient amount of cleaning products at all times; 

• Ensures all waste products produced during tasks are segregated and disposed of correctly; 

• Reports any breakages that occur during the cleaning process;  

• Informs the Head Chef of repairs that need to be done; 

• Understands the importance of a clean and sanitized environment; 

• Carries out duties in a professional and courteous manner; 

• Ability to adapt, embraces strong cultural diversity and work in multi-ethnic teams; 

• Adheres to all company policies, procedures, site rules and regulations; 

• Follows all health and safety regulations; 

• Makes sure that he/she is ready to start work at scheduled time and hence arrives to work on time. 

Requirements

  • Experience in cleaning would be considered an asset.
  • Good command of the English language.
  • Be in the possession of Food Handling certification.
  • Available to work in shifts as needed. 
  • Knowledge of hygiene principles. 
  • Strong team player. 
  • Able to work under pressure.
