Overview

The Commis Chef in a factory canteen is responsible for assisting senior chefs in preparing and cooking meals for factory employees. The role focuses on supporting the kitchen team in food preparation, maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety, and quality, and ensuring efficient meal service for a large number of staff.

The Commis Chef performs basic cooking tasks under supervision while learning different kitchen sections and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing meals for factory employees.

• Prepare mise en place by washing, peeling, cutting, and measuring ingredients.

• Follow company recipes to ensure consistent food quality.

• Help prepare large quantities of food according to daily production needs.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.

• Ensure all utensils, equipment, and surfaces are properly sanitized.

Requirements:

• At least 6 months apprenticeship or kitchen experience

• Food Handling Certificate (B)

• Basic English communication skills

• Ability to work shift schedules
